Shop Scheme helps customers budget for their bills

Since PayPoint launched a scheme in July 2002 for Northern Ireland oil consumers, it has grown to account for over £2m per annum in oil home heat payments. The retail-based electronic bill payment system is now available through more than 400 local shops, helping consumers budget for their fuel bills. Easily accessible in-store terminals offer Northern Ireland Oil Consumers a free pre-payment method for cash payments in advance of oil deliveries. Alternatively consumers can pay for deliveries using cash, credit card, monthly budget scheme or direct debit. Over 30 Northern Ireland Oil Federation members now offer their customers PayPoint as a pre-payment option for fuel bills. With rising energy costs across all fuels, David Blevings of NIOF believes that this figure can only increase as more customers’ look for an easy way to budget for their energy costs. David said, “as a responsible industry we want to offer services and products that may help minimise the impact of increased prices on consumers. The pre-payment system is ideal in that the consumer can build up credit or budget using a free-to-use payment system that ultimately allows them to control their fuel bill”. For further information on PayPoint for oil home heat payments check with your local NIOF member (www.nioil.com) or contact David Blevings on 0845 6002105.
